SPINAL DECOMPRESSION

If you suffer from severe or chronic back or neck pain, for which surgery has been recommended, one of the best things that you can do is see if a natural approach utilizing spinal decompression is right for you. Everyday more and more people around the world are benefiting from this amazing technology, and are finding long lasting relief of back or neck pain for which previously there seemed to be no form of relief.

WHAT IS SPINAL DECOMPRESSION?

Spinal Decompression is a relatively new form of treatment designed primarily for

patients suffering from either long standing, or severe back or neck pain. Spinal

Decompression is different from other forms of therapy.

Spinal Decompression is also different from traditional chiropractic care, in that it is a

computerized form of treatment, not typically used for most chiropractic patients, rather reserved only for those with the most severe conditions.

Most patients who undergo a series of spinal decompression treatments do so as an alternative to either back or neck surgery, or spinal injections. Most patients who undergo spinal decompression have been diagnosed with a disc injury, or with significant forms of spinal decay such as disc degeneration, spinal stenosis, or pinched nerves.

In spinal decompression, the computerized form of treatment gently stretches the space between the vertebrae in the spine. Most patients report that the treatments are quite comfortable and soothing. In fact many patients actually fall asleep during the procedure.

The reason that spinal decompression is gaining in popularity is because, when compared to many other forms of treatment, the procedure is quite safe, extremely effective, and at a fraction of the cost of many other procedures.

Life is too short to be living in misery. If you have been told that “your going to have to just live with it,” or that injections or surgery are your only options, then I encourage you to pick up the phone now and call our office at 417-624-1276, or to fill out the information at the end of this report.

Many of your friends and neighbors who thought that they were destined to a life of pain

and suffering are now living healthier, more productive lives thanks to spinal decompression. Many of those people found relief with spinal decompression even after

spinal surgery failed to relieve their pain.

In addition to spinal decompression, we employ a variety of techniques, each one planned to get you relief as quickly as possible, with the goal of addressing the underlying cause of the pain. My experience has been that spinal decompression works best when it is combined with some of the procedures we do in our clinic such as spinal adjustments by hand, spinal adjustments with a low force adjusting instrument for weak or tentative patients, physical therapy, acupuncture, auricular therapy, trigger point therapy, traction, or exercise.

ABOUT DR. DUNLAP

While a lot of chiropractic offices have come and gone over the years, I have been in full time practice, at this same location since 1987. During this time it has been my most sincere pleasure to work with and for, some of the nicest, friendliest patients in the Four

State area.

I am a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. This is where

chiropractic was created in 1895. At Palmer I was blessed with the opportunity to learn a variety of techniques from some of the finest instructors in the world. It was there that

I learned about the history of our profession, and began to employ some of the true and tested, as well as some of the more contemporary methods of healing.

Since graduating from Palmer, I have gone on to further my education in a number of areas. Currently I am the only doctor in this part of the state recognized as a Distinguished Fellow in Chiropractic Biophysics. This is a very demanding course of

study, which teaches doctors how to provide a high level of care to their patients, which in turn allows doctors to teach patients methods which they can employ to strengthen and stabilize areas of weakness in their spine. Presently there are only a handful of doctors in Missouri who have completed this training, most of them are either in Kansas City or St. Louis.

I am one of only several doctors in the Joplin area to have gone back to school and received additional training in acupuncture. In our office, I do not perform the traditional forms of acupuncture which employ the insertion of needles into the body. Instead, we

utilize what is known as electro acupuncture. Both traditional acupuncture and electro acupuncture work extremely well. The advantage of electro acupuncture is that the treat-ments require much less time, and for those who hate needles, don’t worry, there are no

needles. I promise!

Additionally, I am one of the few doctors in Missouri who has undergone additional training and is recognized as a Certified Insurance Claims Consultant.

Over the years I have, and remain very active in our state and local chiropractic associations. In the past I have served as President of the Four State Chiropractic

Association, and as President of the Missouri State Chiropractic Association Political

Action Committee.

CHIROPRACTIC AND SCIATIC LEG PAIN

If you suffer from sciatic leg pain one of the best things that you can do is see if a natural, chiropractic approach is right for you. Everyday more and more Americans are seeking the care from chiropractors for a wide assortment of conditions, with sciatic leg pain being one of the most common conditions being treated.

WHAT CAUSES SCIATIC LEG PAIN?

Frankly, there are a number of known causes for sciatic leg pain. These can run the gamut from serious health problems such as with cancer and infections to acute injuries such as from a fall or trauma.

Most frequently, the leading cause of sciatic leg pain which we see in our clinic is due to
something pinching or compressing the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve is a nerve which begins in the low back and tailbone region, and extends thru the hips and down into the legs, all the way to the foot.

Left untreated, damage to the sciatic nerve can result in permanent pain, numbness, or loss of use of the leg. This can significantly affect a person’s enjoyment of life, whether it be playing ball in the yard with the kids, being able sit in church on a Sunday morning, or just merely being able to go up or down the steps at home.

Sciatic nerve pain is nothing to mess around with. I have personally seen how it can
literally disrupt not only the life of the patient, but also the lives of their loved ones, especially if they are no longer able to work.

If you are suffering from sciatic nerve pain, I encourage you to pick up the phone now and call our office at 417-624-1276, or to fill out the information at the end of this report to see if we have time available to offer you a FREE CONSULTATION within the next several days.

Time is of the essence. I have seen a number of cases, whereby the patient kept putting off the sciatic nerve pain in one leg, hoping it would go away, only to awaken one day with the excruciating misery of pain radiating up and down both legs, barely able to get out of bed.

MEDICAL TREATMENT

Treatment for sciatic leg pain can vary, depending upon the type of healthcare provider you see. Most family doctors will start off with prescription medications such as pain pills, muscle relaxers, or even anti-inflammatories. Should these medications fail to address that patient’s sciatic leg pain, next is likely to be a referral to a pain management
doctor for spinal injections. Should these fail to address the patient’s sciatic leg pain, then there are basically only two other medical options; either learn to live with it, or
spinal surgery.

THE CHIROPRACTIC APPROACH

At Dunlap Chiropractic, P.C. we help people daily find relief of sciatic leg pain. It is safe to say that over the years we have helped thousands of Four State residents relieve their sciatic leg pain. This would include people who have suffered from chronic low back pain over the years, to patients who have suffered a fresh injury.

At our office we employ a variety of techniques, each one planned to get you relief as quickly as possible, with the goal of addressing the underlying cause of the pain.

The tools and techniques we use in our office to address your specific problem are numerous. These could include one, and many times a combination of the following procedures: chiropractic adjustments by hand, chiropractic adjustments with a low force adjusting instrument for weak or tentative patients, physical therapy, acupuncture, auricular therapy, trigger point therapy, traction, or exercise.

CHIROPRACTIC AND NECK PAIN

If you suffer from neck pain one of the best things that you can do is see if a natural, chiropractic approach is right for you. Everyday more and more Americans are seeking the care from chiropractors for a wide assortment of conditions, with neck pain being one of the most common conditions being treated.

WHAT CAUSES NECK PAIN?

Frankly, there are a number of known causes for neck pain.. This can run the gamut from over the years developing a poor posture to someone actually sustaining a specific injury such as in a fall or car accident. Most typically it is not one thing which causes neck pain, but rather a number of injuries incurred during the course of a lifetime.

Poor posture can be a significant contributor of neck pain. Have someone look at you from the side. Ask them to observe whether you stand straight, or are you slumped over? Mechanically your neck is to be in balance with your body. This means when somebody looks at you from the side, and you are standing naturally and not trying to force yourself up, your ear holes should be over your shoulders. If your ear holes are in front of your shoulders, then you may be putting too much stress upon your neck, and this could be causing not only your neck to hurt, but could also be causing a whole host of other health care problems as well.

TREATMENT

Treatment for neck pain can vary, depending upon the type of pain which exist.
The most common treatment of neck is typically pain medication, whether it be over the counter, such as aspirin, or by prescription, such as by a medical physician. While
these medications offer some with temporary relief, rarely do they address the underlying cause of the problem.

CHIROPRACTIC AND HEADACHES

If you suffer from headaches one of the best things that you can do is see if a natural, chiropractic approach is right for you. Everyday more and more Americans are seeking the care from chiropractors for a wide assortment of conditions, with headaches being one of the most common conditions being treated.

WHAT CAUSES HEADACHES?

Frankly, there are a number of known causes for headaches. These can run the gamut from strong smells and intense lights, to a variety of health conditions such as high blood pressure, sinus infections, dental conditions, eye problems, fevers, tumors, and even not eating at a particular time of the day.

One of the most common types of headaches are stress headaches. Research indicates that up to 90% of all headaches are stress related.

WHAT MAKES THE HEAD ACHE?

Surprisingly it is not what is inside the head or brain that hurts. In fact the brain is essentially a non-pain sensitive structure. Frequently during brain surgery patients are

fully awake and conversing with their doctors.

What is painful inside the head are arteries, veins, membranes which wrap around the brain, and special nerves which are contained within the head known as cranial nerves.

When these structures become stressed, irritated, stretched, or inflamed headaches can often occur.

TREATMENT

Treatment for headaches can vary, depending upon the type of headache which exists.

                                                   FIBROMYALGIA

Imagine having to live with fatigue, or constant and enduring muscle or joint pain all day long. This is what many of the patients I’ve helped over the years talk about when describing their fibromyalgia pain. They can point to areas of “tender points” throughout their back and neck, and especially in the upper back and shoulder regions. They also talk about how much worse they feel on cold, damp, rainy, or windy days.

Fortunately for these people there is help.

If you are reading this report right now, chances are what you have been doing to help relieve your fibromyalgia pain is not working.

It has been my experience that fibromyalgia patients are extremely unique and different, and require special treatment.

One of the things which makes our office unique and different from many other treatment facilities in the area is that we actually enjoy treating fibromyalgia patients. We understand that because of their particular needs, these patients require a specifically designed treatment plan, one carefully crafted to help them live a healthier, more productive life.

TREATMENT

Treatment for fibromyalgia can vary, depending upon the type of pain which exists, and from the type of health care provider being seen. Medical doctors typically treat with medication, usually in the form of pain pills, muscle relaxers, and many times I’ve seen fibromyalgia patients come to me after having been prescribed antidepressants. While these medications offer some with relief, many times they do not address the underlying cause of the problem. Patients who do not respond well to pain medications are many times told “You’ll just have to learn to live with it,” or “It’s just in your head.”

THE CHIROPRACTIC APPROACH

At Dunlap Chiropractic, P.C. we help people daily find relief of fibromyalgia pain. It is safe to say that over the years we have helped thousands of Four State residents relieve their fibromyalgia pain. This would include people who have suffered from chronic muscle and joint pain for many years.

At our office we employ a variety of techniques, each one planned to get you relief as quickly as possible, with the goal of addressing the underlying cause of the pain.

CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is also many times referred to as an “overuse syndrome,” or “repetitive stress disorder.” Typically Carpal Tunnel Syndrome occurs when one of the nerves extending the length of your arm and into your hand becomes irritated. Symptoms
quite often result in pain, numbness, loss of sleep, and weakness in the hands.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can be quite serious and disabling. My experience is that most, but certainly not all of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome patients are currently working and depend upon the use of their arms and hands in order to earn a living. Imagine how traumatic it would be if one were to have to either lose a job or forego a career because of this type of condition.

WHAT CAUSES CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME?

There are numerous causes of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Most are the result of overuse, although occasionally trauma can also be involved.

When I first began my practice more than twenty years ago, most of the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome sufferers I treated had very demanding, “physical types” of jobs such as carpenters, roofers, production and poultry workers.

What has changed over the years is that today, in addition to the “physical type” of workers I spoke of, is that presently a significant number of carpal tunnel sufferers do not have all day physically demanding types of jobs, but rather some of their job tasks do place a high amount of stress on the back, neck, shoulders, wrist and hands. These types of workers may be computer workers, bank tellers, grocery workers, mechanics, etc.

Sometimes it has nothing to do with one’s job, sometimes it involves one’s hobby. Here, people who spend a lot of time on the internet, or are highly involved with knitting and cross stitching come to mind. These are typically the type of people who use their hands a lot.

Occasionally we treat Carpal Tunnel Syndrome for a traumatically induced event, such as an auto accident, fall, or sports injury.

TREATMENT

Treatment for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can vary, depending upon the type of pain which exists, and from the type of health care provider being seen. Medical doctors typically treat with medication, usually in the form of pain pills or anti-inflammatories. While these medications offer some with relief, many times they do not address the underlying cause of the problem. Patients who do not respond well to pain medications are many times referred for surgery.

THE CHIROPRACTIC APPROACH

At Dunlap Chiropractic, P.C. we help people daily find relief of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. It is safe to say that over the years we have helped thousands of Four State residents relieve their wrist pain. This would include people who have suffered from a recent development of wrist pain, to people who have been suffering with their hands and wrist for years.

ABOUT DR.

The advantage of electro acupuncture is that the treat-ments require much less time, and for those who hate needles, don’t worry, there are no
needles.

CHIROPRACTIC AND AUTO INJURIES

If you are suffering from an auto injury one of the best things that you can do is see if a natural, chiropractic approach is right for you. Everyday more and more Americans are seeking the care from chiropractors for a wide assortment of conditions, with auto injuries being one of the most common conditions being treated.

AUTO INJURIES CAN BE A BIG PAIN

Lets face it, auto injuries can be a big pain in more ways than one. There can be physical pain, emotional pain, financial pain, as well as the hassles and inconveniences associated
with the accident.

If you are reading this because you have been in an auto accident, first let me say that I hope and pray that you were not seriously injured. If you were injured, I firmly believe it is in your best interest to be checked out by a well trained doctor of chiropractic, with a history of successfully treating auto injuries.

Injuries from an auto accident may not always be apparent, not even to emergency personnel and physicians. Sometimes the body can adapt and heal on it’s own, and sometimes it cannot. The reason is because vertebrae in the spine when subjected to an auto injury can lose their normal alignment, thereby causing harm to sensitive muscles, ligaments, tendons, nerves, and disc in the back and neck.

Left untreated, these conditions can progressively worsen over time, and eventually lead to permanent pain and disability.

Not a day goes by, that I don’t treat somebody who at some earlier point in time was injured in an auto accident, and either blew off getting it treated, or accepted a quick
low-ball settlement offer from an insurance company, and now, whether it be months or years later they are paying for it in more ways than one. I wish I had a nickel for every time I hear “Doc, I wish I would have treated this the right way in the beginning.”

Don’t be fooled into believing it is just “a simple strain,” or “just a little soreness.” Left untreated, these injuries can set you up for a lifetime of misery, which eventually pain pills or muscle relaxers may not be able to cover up.

If you have been involved in a recent auto injury I encourage you to either call our office now at 417-624-1276, or to fill out the information at the end of this report to see if we have time available to offer you a FREE CONSULTATION within the next several days.
If your injury has been recent, time is of the essence for your body to properly heal.

WHY CHOOSE TREATMENT WITH DR. DUNLAP

Your most precious commodity is you and your family. If you or they have been injured in an auto accident you want someone who will care not only for them, but about them. At our office we have been successfully treating auto accident victims daily since 1987.

I have been trained by some of the world’s leading experts in treating auto accident injuries. Every year I return to school, to learn how to better care for my patients.
Our clinic is adept at constructing a treatment plan, aimed at getting you the maximum results in the shortest period of time. Some people heal fast, some people heal slow, most conclude their treatments with us in three to four months.

In short, if you are looking for a doctor who cares, and has a long track record of helping
auto injury victims I feel you will be happy with us.

TREATMENT

Treatment for auto injuries can vary, depending upon the type of health care provider you see. From a medical standpoint the most common treatment of whiplash injuries is with either pain pills or muscle relaxers. While these medications offer some with temporary relief, many times they do not address the underlying cause of the problem.
